Why is technology good for business?

Business efficiency, process automation, security, communication, cost reduction, time optimization…

All of these things and more are improved with the proper integration of technology and user training.

The biggest reason, to me, for why technology is good for business is that it provides us with three critical things: Additional Time, Connectivity, and Profitability

Additional Time

The amount of time saved by simple technology tools like cell phones and email is amazing. Now, add in business-specific technology tools and some industries are able to simplify tasks that took days into ones that take minutes. This allows you to focus more on your priorities and to be more efficient with your time.

Connectivity

This is sometimes seen as a positive and negative characteristic of technology. We are always connected in some way or another. It’s amazing for business owners, consultants, and employees who can now communicate and access work material at any hour and from almost anywhere. Sure, it can lead to a work-centric lifestyle, but it’s advantages outweigh the downsides in my opinion. Plus, it lets me keep in touch with the important people in business and personal life (which is important to me).

Profitability

The two points above are huge. Additional time and connectivity all over the world allow you to better focus on your business priorities. If you’re client facing, then technology can be used to allow you to focus more on your relationship with clients. If you work on products, then you may find technology that helps your company engineer faster and smarter or a tool that helps you market better. The added connectivity not only lets your work all the time (yep, some of us like being workaholics), but it also lets you increase your business reach to other cities, states, and countries.

tl;dr

Technology can be advantageous for most businesses. With a little introspection into a business, there is likely technology that can help business big and small to save time, reduce costs, and make more money.
